In the second quarter of 2024, the Shoot'em Up gaming category on iOS has seen diverse trends across its leading titles. Here's a snapshot of how five popular games have fared during this period, according to Sensor Tower data.
Zombie Waves-shooting game experienced a notable surge in revenue, rising from a modest $862K to an impressive $3.4M by the end of June. Downloads also saw a significant uptick, climbing from 3.6M to nearly 3.9M, while weekly active users peaked at 13.3M in early June before settling at 12M.
The newly released Zombie.io: Potato Shooting showed an exciting start with revenues skyrocketing to $6.6M in its first week and downloads reaching 9.9M. However, both metrics saw a decline towards the end of the quarter, with revenues dipping to $358K and downloads to 1.4M. Active users followed a similar pattern, starting strong at 11.9M but ending the quarter at 3.4M.
Long-standing Galaxy Attack: Alien Shooter maintained a steady revenue stream, with figures fluctuating mildly between $600K and $1.1M. Downloads and active users showed more variation, with downloads peaking at 3.1M in late April and active users reaching 11.9M by the quarter's end.
Another veteran, 1945 - Airplane shooting game, saw revenues oscillate between $400K and $800K. Downloads had a high point of 2.5M in late June, while active users experienced a mid-quarter dip but recovered to 8.4M, showing a resilient user base.
Pickle Pete: Survivor had a more challenging quarter, with revenues ranging from $273K to $626K and downloads experiencing a sharp fall from 3.6M to 115K. Active users mirrored this decline, dropping from a high of 9.4M to just under 3M.
